Opportunity Summary
This is a short-term fixed-term position that could transition to permanent. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Alongside the Director, Pre-construction and Chief Estimator, execute Estimating key priorities to support critical proposals and respond to new project tenders.
  • Study plans, specifications, addenda, and all construction conditions set by Owner/consultants to assess and validate overall project requirements.
  • Measure quantities from bid documents, clarifying with consultants and subtrades all discrepancies, omissions, and changes to the cost estimate.
  • Complete full quantity take-off of excavation, concrete and rebar volumes required to complete the project as per contract specifications to ensure accurate pricing.
  • Use preliminary project schedule to estimate staff labour and project execution costs.
  • Solicit and follow-up on pricing from subcontractors and suppliers for labour, equipment, and materials to properly ascertain comparative bids and present to the Chief Estimator and Director of Pre-construction, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete final cost estimate of a project, incorporating all labour, equipment, and material data, pricing documentation, overhead and profit margins, and support in the preparation of bid proposals and project budget.
  • Coordinate and communicate with subtrades and suppliers on scopes of work.
  • Provide tender recommendations to Project Managers for subcontract awards.

 Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience performing estimating work on construction projects for a General Contractor / Construction Manager.
  • Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, subtrade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
  • Familiarity with drawing reviews, contract administration, document management.
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, time management, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and On-Screen Takeoff (OST).
  • Proven integrity when dealing with Clients, trades, and Consultants.
